About Healthy World Environmental, Inc.
Moisture and mold issues present serious problems for property owners. The creators of Healthy World Environmental, Inc. envisioned a need to provide property owners with an alternative to costly mold cleanup by being proactive and preventing mold. Since that is not always possible, HWE sought out new methods and products to help lower the cost of remediation.
Up until a few years ago, Industrial Hygienists conducted all mold inspections. Industrial Hygienists are generally professionals with science degrees in chemistry, microbiology, etc. Mold was something to be avoided at all costs unless there was no other recourse. Industrial Hygienists are not normally called unless there is a visible mold problem that could lead to costly litigation. This often leads to the need for remediation, another expensive process, to remove the mold and repair the damage. Then came the media coverage of several high profile mold cases. This resulted in increased public awareness and better scientific understanding that mold may cause serious health issues, property damage and can reduce property values. Mold lawsuits proliferated. In many cases, realtors, sellers, and builders were being sued years after property ownership transferred and in some cases the property had changed hands more than once. Settlements have been enormous. In 2000, the insurance industry paid out more than $700 million in mold and moisture intrusion claims. In 2002, they paid out over $3 BILLION in mold and moisture intrusion claims. Insurance companies have been known to cancel policies when a moisture or mold problem occurs or, in other instances, have removed mold as a covered item on home policies. The entire process was reactive.
The moisture management process, on the other hand, is a very proactive process that discovers and identifies issues before they become costly problems. We have attended numerous classes in moisture detection and mold analysis. We have taken tests and received certification as moisture intrusion/mold inspectors. We associate ourselves with top laboratories that analyze and report on the mold samples taken.
The problem in the industry is easy to find. People didn´t call us until they had a mold problem. Unfortunately, it was normally too late and the damage was done. Tired of seeing people losing there homes, health and bank accounts, we developed an enhanced training program and the Business In a Book for Moisture Management Professionals.
During our voyage, we have seen many remediations. The classic strip it down to studs and toss it all method is a very costly one. Biocides and fungicides typically do more harm then good by leaving dead spores and a toxic environment. We searched for a better way and found it with Bio-Science. Their method was simple and affordable. The key is TM-100, a 100% organic, biodegradable, non-toxic enzyme that consumes mold spores on contact, leaving behind only a fresh scent.
Our goal was clear and simple. Set standards in the industry using easy to follow protocols and make it mandatory to have an investigation on new construction, homes with prior claims and before any property is transferred. After a lot of work, our system has gained national recognition and a task force has been formed to do just that. We are at the forefront of this push, but we can´t do it alone. That is where the BIB for CMP's comes into play. Help us reach our goal. Your reward will be having your own business in a new industry that is about to explode.
